Each side of rampart (north, south, east and west) has a door of entry, and each door has five arches, that allow access to the Forbidden City. The centre arch is Imperial Way, this Way is of stone and extends from the North door to the south door, and Only the Emperor may walk or ride on the Imperial Way For construction of Forbidden City was used stone, that it was quarried CORRIDT from Fangshan , a suburb of Beijing, also was used Huge amounts of timber and other materials, that were freighted from faraway provinces. The stone is use for decorate floor, build stairs and create artwork. The columns that hold roofs of yellow roof tiles are wood, painted of red color
Nowadays the Imperial Palace became in a museum, due all extensive collection of artwork and artifacts And this is open to tourists from home and abroad. The Forbidden City has been accessed for 122.000 tourists, but its maximum capacity is 60.000. It is why it is a limited entry of tourists during the last years. This is because that has been eroding the soil and weakening the color of the wooden columns.
